The general plan is to ride down on Friday, "ride event" on Saturday and return home Sunday. The ride event is to ride to a number of check points and have the entry form stamped. The ride ends at Thredbo, when the entry forms are placed into a barrel for prizes, including motorcycles!
As eventually happens, this year had some rain associated with the ride day. But so what!
The snake in this case is the Snake River. The event started when one of the locals decided to try riding every crossing of the Snake River. Others thought it a grand idea, and the tradition has continued.
After 9/11, many of the crossings have been closed, as they are over dams. Nonetheless, the roads are great, the scenery excellent and the company sublime.
