Nytorv is adjacent to Strøget, one of the two main pedestrian only shopping streets in Copenhagen. And since this leads to Kongens Nytorv (the construction zone), which is just a few blocks from our hotel, it was the obvious return route.
The night was early (just a little after 9PM), and the buskers were out in full force, as the crowd here indicates. I think the spire belongs to Nikolaj Kirken (St. Nicholas Church)
Storks Fountain on Amagertorv is a popular meeting place. The square itself dates back to medieval times when it was a marketplace. Danes, apparently, quite appreciate storks which nest among the chimneys of the city. The tower in the distance belongs to Christiansborg Castle.
A panorama of the square with Storks Fountain, looking towards Christiansborg Palace, and off to the right up the Strøget which is also known as Amagertorv at this location.
Looking down Ll. Strandstr from Sankt Annæ Plads. There's nothing particular about this street - I just happened to walk past it, and it has some typical Copenhagen features.
Heading down Amaliegade to Amalienborg Plads, I saw this building which is definitely sagging - especially the right hand window frames!
Marmorkirken at dusk.
Yet another end of day for the statue of Frederick V, with the Amaliehaven fountain and the Opera House in the background.
The Amaliehaven fountain and the Opera House reflecting the late night sky. I was about to cross the road and take a photo without the (temporary) sign in front, but the fountain turned off for the night before I completed the crossing! Bugger.
The Admiral Hotel at dusk.
