Old Quebec Tour - Latin Quarter

From the top of the Funicular we walked the few blocks to what appears to be a nameless park which has City Hall at one end and the Basilica Notre Dame de Quebec at the other.

View showing the park and Basilica. It turned out we happened to arrive here as Mass was coming out and that it was, apparently, some official celebration for the city's foundation day. Hence, the crowd waiting outside.

Parade for Quebec's birthday

The crowd at the front of the Basilica as the dignitaries appear, complete with military personnel.

We then walked towards the northern side of the old city wall.

Along Holy Family Street, with some ad-hoc adornment on an old Lavalle University building. Other than the School of Architecture, the University moved out of this location in the 1960s. Nonetheless, many students still live in this area.

James McKenna's house; floor is at street level

Typical of the old buildings in this area is the McKenna House, the one with the red roof.
