Plumbing, Termination & A Door

As my brother and sister-in-law's holiday came to an end yesterday, the first item on today's agenda was to hire a car. Fortunately there's an Avis agency not 30 minutes walk (mostly along quiet residential streets) from my current home. Mobile again, it was time to visit construction central.

Don't adjust your monitor - this toilet pan really is lopsided. Sufficient that it will be replaced with something more symmetrical. ASAP. The other two are fine, and both Dave the plumber and Chris the builder were surprised to see such a defective product escape from Caroma.

This is the termination bit! The network (cat 6) and phone cables from jacks all over the house terminate in this magnificent piece of equipment. A bit more luxurious than I was looking for, given all this is a room for such things. There is a (lockable) front panel too. The blue cables are the phone, gray is for computers. At least it doesn't clash with my standard colour scheme, which is blue (net) are for wireless segments.

It's not all that obvious, but this box is located high up in the south west corner of the "computer room" (electronics room might be a better description). The fluorescent light on the ceiling is partly visible on the top right on the image.

The garage door! It was installed last Friday afternoon, but this was the first time I had seen it shut. I called in on Sunday, after buying a new car (the old one was demolished 2 weeks ago) and noticed the door was installed, but left open. Not knowing why, I left it in that position - in fact didn't even move it. And you will all be pleased to know that this door carries on my tradition - it is 100% manually operated! No electric motors for me, please.
