The porch pillars are rising. I thought they might have been a little higher today, as there was a short visit yesterday, and they were about half this height. But then I realised there is probably a height gain limit until the cement dries to ensure the stability of the structure.
This is a the pillar on the western end. Garry has been adding to his skill set by installing the pipe. It will feed water from the roof into the bladder. The pillar on the eastern end will not do this, at least in part for asthetic reasons.
Looking to the east along the porch. Note the beam above the far pillar. This will be the eastern side of the roof, which is temporarily supported to allow the brickies to get the height exactly correct.
The western courtyard, looking into the master bedroom. The bricks are about half way up. And this morning I signed an agreement to have a Vergola installed here in the roof.
The garage now has much more of the roof in place. Ryan was busy cutting the rafters to the correct length; I expect the facia will be going up soon.
Resident Blue Tongue | Dean with his catch |
During a couple of visits before construction started, I came across a blue tongue lizard. It was hard to tell what happened during the construction disturbance, but the lizard is alive and well. Dean spotted it earlier under the waste bin, but then saw it moving across the site, so captured it to put it safely out of harm's way.
