This photo shows the state at my arrival. With backs to Camera are Chris (l), and Hassan, the supervisor from Rotex who installed the floor heating pipes. Chris wanted somebody from Rotex to be available during the pour, in case of problems. None did show up, which was good.
Here, the workshop and computer room (left) are finished, and the hall is being finished just before finishing the bathroom and WC.
Moving on to bedroom 4 pour, and bathroom levelling/finishing off. While I was not looking, some serious overacting was taking place in the background.
Pour has moved to bedroom 3 while levelling work is on bedroom 4. The red item in the right middle is a laser based levelling system which the concreters use to set their height. The black rod leaning against the retaining wall is the level measuring part - it has a sensor to detect the beam from the sender (red item) and beeps when it is at the correct height.
Lounge room pour nearing completion as the levelling crew are working on the eastern side of that area.
Levelling the master bedroom. Note the drain pipe with the pink top is for the floor drain. The wet areas have a slightly recessed floor, and it slopes a little to the drain, so the drain is marked to be sure the slope is to the correct pipe.
The pour is now coming down the hall into the kitchen/dining/family area. The levelling operation has moved to finish off the hall in front of the master bedroom and bedroom 2.
The last concrete truck has emptied its load, and we're still short a bit. Here Chris and John from ABC Concrete Pumping are measuring the area left to determine how much of a partial load to order.
The long line from the concrete pumper meant there was a considerable amount of concrete in the line. Here it is being 'oozed' out by being pushed through with a ball, while the progress through the line is monitored by tapping the pipe and listening to the sound change indicating the pipe is now clear at that point.
The above photos show the concrete being slowly dribbled out as the ball approaches the end of the line, and then (right) the ball has just emerged from the pipe, better visible here.
The above 2 photos are taken from the south west corner, looking roughly NNE, and east, respectively. The reflection comes from the water on top. Even so, the surface is remarkably smooth and level - all done by hand!
