Before we headed off, there was time to photograph Marilyn's flowers.
This whole corner of the lot had a plethora of yellow flowers. My favourite colour.
Ah, sunflowers - I was always intrigued by these as a child, probably because they "followed the sun" across the sky.
The cycle of life
Another yellow flower
We then rode off - to breakfast. And lunch too, for that matter. It was a VERY large breakfast, but this is country America, where breakfast is always big - presumably an historical legacy of the days when farmers, and farm workers, had physically demanding jobs.
Marilyn at the top of the (publicly open) road to Mt. Ashland ski area. The elevation here is 6,380 feet (approx 1944m). And you can tell it's overcast. And it was a bit windy, and quite chilly! Not a place to spend a considerable amount of time. Not that I had too much time to spare. And as a point of reference, that's Mt. Shasta behind Marilyn.
Mt. Shasta, as seen from Mt. Ashland. Note that Mt. Shasta is just over 14,000 feet/4200m. And it's in California, although Mt. Ashland is in Oregon.
A wider angle view looking south towards Mt. Sasta.
Looking north into Oregon. Note the sky is clearer up that way!
Our bikes - mine was the one in the middle.
Part of the ski area. Like most such places, without snow it appears quite rundown.
