On September 25th I left Seattle on my R1150RT to ride to Saratoga and deliver the bike to its new owner, Jeffrey. Since this is a 2 day ride for me, stopping in Southern Oregon or very northern California was required. AND, since I was about to sell my home to Marilyn, who lived in Talent, in very southern Oregon, that was the obvious place to stop for the night!
The ride down was uneventful. Started out a little cool, but otherwise no problems. The "get there soon" route drones down I-5. This is mostly urban freeway until south of Olympia, then some not very interesting country until Portland, and then some more not very interesting rural type landscape through Oregon until a little south of Roseburg, where the freeway starts traversing the hills which eventually turn into the Siskiyous which continue through northern California until about Redding.
With the touring range of the bike, I usually needed to fill up around Albany (I think) before continuing into California. Of late, Yreka, CA had become my preferred stopping place on this journey, but anywhere from Medford, OR to Yreka is fine.
Thanks to the wonders of GPS, I reached Marilyn's home without any difficulties, riding along streets whose existence was entirely unknown to me until that time.
Upon arrival, I reintroduced myself to Jymmi, whose name I was trying to remember for the last hundred or so miles! I hate it when that happens. Anyway, we had a few beers, talked, and then Jymmi produced a wonderful meal - lamb! And it was GOOD! Very much to my liking. After dinner, Marilyn and I discussed some issues regarding the house sale, and we also planned a ride for the morning.
The guard cat Gemma - making sure nobody goes down the hall!
Meanwhile, these two cats, Stella on the left and The Weejun are guarding the kitchen - and probably making sure that their needs are known to the servants.
Looks like Marilyn is launching The Weejun into space!
Reminds me of that child's game "I'm the king of the castle and you're the dirty rascle"!
Meanwhile, Miss Stella is above the fray.
Ah, Cowgirl comes to life. A true dog - just wants human companionship. She's also partly Australian Cattle Dog, so obviously she appreciates the presence of another Aussie!
Jymmi takes Cowgirl outside, while the feline contingent stares at her, with the safety of a glass door in between.
