Circular Quay East

I mostly ignore New Year's Eve, as it is, in my opinion, and an entirely artificial event. However, this year, I was invited to end the year with a concert at the Sydney Opera House, which also happens to have a wonderful location for viewing the inevitable midnight fireworks! I snapped the following photos while waiting for Rob and Chris to arrive, and then on the way to the Opera House for dinner before the concert.

Eastern Circular Quay for New Year's Eve celebrations

Crowd management was largely by segregating traffic to different destinations. This is looking north along the east side of Circular Quay, and showing the entrance walkway to the Opera House area.

TV helicopter flying over East Circular Quay

There was a plethora of helicopters flying over the area. I presume mostly for the media.
