Leaving Crescent City, the road climbs a minor hill with a view point.
Looking north towards Crescent City, which I guess is named after the shape of the bay!
Not many places to pull off this highway, so one takes whatever place is available. At least it's easier on a bike!
Not exactly a small tree.
The bridge over the Klamath River on US-101. Note that the bear combines two symbols of California. The state flag has a bear on it, and California is known as "The Golden State". There are four bears on the bridge - one on each "corner".
Just south of the above bridge, there's an alternative route called the Coastal Drive. A little travelled road, but with some nice views of the coastline.
However, sections of this route are a dirt road, of no great difficulty. And very little traffic too.
