You can also see last year's journey to Mt. Baker, under less favourable weather conditions.
Mt. Shuksan is quite close to Mt. Baker, but not as tall. It is, however, more interesting in appearance (to me, anyway). And it is ideally located for excellent photos, as seen here being reflected in a small (name unknown) lake in front of the visitor's lodge.
A somewhat better view of the mountain, reflected this time in Picture Lake!
A view of just the mountain.
Although still summer, at higher elevations autumn is setting in, and the plants are starting to change colour before loosing their leaves entirely.
The summit, in all its majesty. Mt. Baker is 3285 metres, or about 10,500 feet tall. Artists Point is about 1500 metres (4,800 feet).
The summit in perspective.
The summit up close and personal!
Looking south towards other Cascade Mountains peaks.
The trusty "S" is waiting to leave, ignoring the view of Mt. Baker.
The parking lot - this year there is nothing like the amount of snow present at this time last year, which completely covered the embankment on the far side!
"Red Mountain", most likely "Yellow Aster Butte".
