Mt. Baker - South East View

September 12th

It was a great day for a ride, and being sunny, Mt. Baker was the destination, since my previous visits to the area were overcast, to a greater or lesser extent.

Baker Lake Road

Leaving SR 20 a little west of Concrete, Baker Lake Road heads up towards Baker Lake, formed behind a hydro-electric dam. Where Baker Lake Road crosses Boulder Creek on a curved bridge, a wonderful view of Mt. Baker from the south east opens up.

State Route 542

Mt. Baker as seen from a viewpoint on SR 542

The only other approach to Mt. Baker is via SR 542, which starts in Bellingham and heads east, eventually ending at the ski area on Mt. Baker itself, roughly north east of the peak. This view is from a view point along SR 542
