I was walking along the main street, checking out the various vendors and attempting to stay a bit on the dry side.
I have no idea what these flowers are, but they are certainly unusual. Amazing what you see in florist shops.
As I was taking this photo, Joey walked up, and we decided that a cup of coffee might be a good thing on a day like this. So off we went to find a coffee shop. Of course, we were not the only ones with this brilliant idea, so the shop was crowded, but we eventually found a seat at a bar near the front window. And there was a newspaper, which I noticed had a cartoon on it.
Yes, it's Tacoma native Gary Larson's Far Side! Google translates the comment as "Arrrgh! Lie flat, Brit, your feet are always hot."
As there was still some time left before our 4PM dinner at the "Sail Hotel", we ventured out towards the eastern end of town, as neither of us had gone that way before.
A street with apartment buildings! I think these were the first I had seen in Norway. OK, we hadn't been there exactly a long time!
Hmmm, not a bad view either!
So it was time to turn around and start walking towards dinner.
One of the cross fjord ferries, with its "mouth" open disgorging passengers. And if its anything like the Puget Sound ferries, the cars wait until the pedestrians are clear.
Looking down on the football stadium from the 15th floor. Can't see too much of the field, so I doubt the hotel could offer some sort of aerial view football packages.
Yes, another panorama, this from the 15th floor of the "Sail Hotel". The left hand side is roughly east, the middle is about south, and thus the right hand side is west, with the passage leading to the open ocean.
We then returned to the lobby to await the arrival of the rest of the group. Except a delegation arrived, to let us know that dinner was not here after all, but rather in the restaurant on the other side of the football stadium! Oh well...
But as we walked past the stadium we could see a practice session. The red splotches on the right are reflections of me in the glass door through which the photo was taken.
The view across the fjord from the restaurant. The weather seemed to be lifting, but since we would be leaving soon, I suppose that was expected!
Signe, Karen and Lindsay, checking over the menu, by the looks of things. Since we have food in front of us, I presume we were being tempted with the dessert menu.
Some people are amused by the most utilitarian of objects. I put my camera on the tiny tripod I carry, and this was sufficient to require a photo! OK, whatever tickles your fancy...
Thanks to Annette for the above 2 photos, which, of course, are copyright by her, and not me, despite what the line below says.
