The restaurant was only about 3 blocks from the wharf, and our hotel was adjacent to the wharf. This is the wharf where the various car ferries dock on their way along the Norwegian coast and islands.
One of the cross fjord car and passenger ferries leaving Molde. This photo was taken a little before 10PM! Molde is located about 62.5 degrees north latitude, close enough to the Arctic Circle that it doesn't really get dark, although there are about 2 hours between sunrise and sunset.

The ferry is now leaving. These vessels have bow and stern thrusters (think of them as propellors on the side of the vessel) which allow the ship to rotate about its centre. Here the ferry is moving the stern away from the dock. The next few photos follow the ferry as it leaves the dock and executes a U turn of sorts.
The ferry continues its rotation, now more than 90 degrees from the dock, and out in the water. This continued until it 180 degrees, then it's off out the fjord to the open North Sea.
