After chesse eating, it was time to return to the "mainland", but after crossing the bridge, we turned right instead of left, which took us to Montmorency Falls.
The view of the Falls from the visitor centre. Note the stairs and viewing platforms along the right hand side "sand hill" (i.e. a hill which appears to be sand, rather than rock). The Falls are some 30m higher than Niagra, but nowhere near as wide, or impressive. However, they are impressive when frozen, as in this (used without permission) photograph.
A closer view of the Falls, showing people on the suspension bridge across the top.
So, what is the KPLU Travel Club doing? Well, the hint is that it was Independence Day.
Not being environmental vandals, we safely disposed of the evidence. You can also see another viewing platform to the left of the top of the Falls.
There's a cable car service from the parking area and visitor centre at the bottom of the Falls up to the top, where there is a manor house dating from 1781, with restaurants and other tourist activities. We did not have enough time to take this ride.
We then boarded the bus and headed back to our hotel, THAT hotel. Several of us then went walkabout to find a "light dinner", after the substantial lunch on Ile d'Orleans.
