Kilkenny to Dublin

Brittas Bay

From Kilkenny we headed more or less east to Arklow, then up along the coast to Dublin. And we detoured to the beach in Brittas Bay.

We then dawdled our way up the coast to Dublin. We planned to stay somewhere near the airport, to make it easier when we flew out on Wednesday. Eventually we ended up at the Regency Hotel, located just off the main northern road out of Dublin.

We had fun driving through Dublin, as some of the downtown streets, specifically some of the through roads with signs, were closed for the Dublin marathon. Using that well worn phrase "Follow that car", we stuck behind a red Citroen, and fortunately that driver knew where to go, until such time as we recognised some of the streets we followed when leaving Dublin the first time. And we missed the same turns too!

Peter & Yvonne had an earlier flight than me, so they caught a taxi to the airport, and made it home with little trouble, although it is a long journey. I left a little later, skipping breakfast, and returning the car to the airport, and having a snack while awaiting the plane.

My journey home was without hiccups. The flight was Dublin to London, then British Airways direct to Seattle - a 10 hour flight. And this was my first flight on a 777.
