A real storm blew in over night, but we made some use of it by planning, at least roughly, where we would stop the remaining nights, with some slack to allow for whatever we found on the way. Which translates into heading across country today, from the east coast in Northern Ireland to the west coast in the Republic.
The view out of Peter & Yvonne's bedroom window as we were preparing to leave. The B & B was very comfortable, especially on a day like this.
After leaving the B & B we skirted around Belfast. Had it been even a reasonable day, we might have gone in to have a look around, but the weather was foul, and so we drove around the city on the freeway. As it turned out, that was probably a good thing, as there were a number of bomb scares that day, and it tied the city in knots for a while.
No threat of bombs out here in the countryside. We were on the main road across the north of Ireland, which at this point is a two lane road. Yet, when the cows need to be moved, the traffic comes to a halt.
At Castle Archdale Forest, a park like area, containing the ruins of an 18th century mansion of the same name. There's a tour boat to an island in the lake, but I doubt it was still running at this time of the year, and would not have been very inviting anyway.
