As promised by the forecasters, this Sunday became quite a wet day. And windy, and not generally the sort of day that one considers to be "nice to be outdoors". However, we were on holidays, and nothing was going to stop us!
From Drogheda we headed for the coast again, both because it was the coast, and it took us off the main roads! With not much of a plan, we stopped at a delightful Tea Shop in Castlebellingham for a bowl of soup and cup of coffee. It certainly helped the day along.
North of Drogheda, south of Clogerhead. Nothing special about this place, just a scene typical of Irish countryside, including the fencing.
We pulled into a church parking lot just before Clogerhead, and had this view of the Irish Sea, on a day not intended for pleasure sailing! And it was only going to get worse.
Near Greenore, looking across Carlingford Lough to the Mourne Mountains, which are actually in Northern Ireland, a part of Britain. The Irish Sea (on the right) was getting quite choppy.
From here we headed to Bangor, our destination for the night. It's located a few miles east of Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland. I was expecting some sort of border crossing, but indeed we just came to a town and discovered we were in another country. The biggest difference is that Britain has not seen fit to join the Euro club, so we needed an ATM to extract some British Pounds.
