Bright and early (for some of us, anyway!) next morning we headed off to Barcelona, via lunch and Mass in Zaragoza.
Interesting tower on the building across the street from Hotel Regina as we waited to join the bus. Note the early morning sun shining on the top of the tower. This seems to contradict the time (08:35), but remember that Spain follows the Central European Time Zone, while it should be the same time as Greenwich in the UK. Thus they effectively have double daylight savings time in effect.
Our guide pointed out that these are the remnants of former road side advertising, which was banned some years ago. However, there was a popular demand to keep these, as the bull is the symbol of Spain, and the advertising message was now removed. So these are all over the country, and the company which used them is probably still getting the advertising effect. Note: I touched up this image, as there was a reflection in the bus window on the bull's neck.
Just another view out the bus window.
Just to the lower left of the no smoking logo is one of many forts built along major trade routes.
Time to get out and stretch legs and other muscles.
Another old building on top of a hill, now surrounded by a modern town.
We passed a number of wind farms. This one is still under construction. The towers are to hold the windmills which generate electricity.
