Echuca

Continuing the trip to Adelaide: this segment Yarrawonga to Echuca

Single story building with covering over footpath

Thanks to Google Images, this is identified as being in Nathalia, Victoria. The O'Shanassy's have (apparently) moved on, though that is not a surprise after so many years.

A bend in a river with sandy banks and trees

A bend in the Murray River at Echuca. The water level is somewhat low, as expected by mid-Autumn

A stretch of river with sandy banks with trees, and a pontoon in the river

Another stretch of the Murray River, with a pontoon structure, and in the far distance, what is likely a paddle wheeler. The tree roots on the right suggest continuing erosion of the river bank.

The Paddle Steamer "Adelaide", now safely and securely settled into a park at Echuca.

View along river with paddle wheeler tied to bank

A calm day on the river at Echuca, with a paddle wheeler tied to the bank.

River bend with an anchored paddle wheeler near tree lined bank

Another quiet part of the river.

Another bend in the river

Another bend in the Murray River just past Swan Hill.

Towards Mildura

Ploughed field with red soil

Most of country Australia seems to have red soil! At least in the south east corner. This was taken just after Swan Hill.

Looking along rows of grape vines, with yellowing leaves

Monah (near Mildura) grows grapes - some for wine, others for table use, and some end up as raisins! Clearly this is the end of the growing season as the vines are getting ready to drop their leaves.

A lock along the river with lady bowlers on far side

Lock 10 on the Murray at Wentworth, some 30km from Mildura.

River junction with reeds at the junction point

The Darling River (on the left) flowing into the Murray River (entering in the middle) and flowing out to the right. This photo was taken at Wentworth, NSW.
