A better view of Half Dome, making the half name clearer. Taken near the visitor centre at Glacier Point.
Looking down into the main tourist area in Yosemite Valley. The Visitor Center is just visible a little to the right of centre close to the cliff. A better view follows.
The main visitor area in the valley. The main visitor centre is located at the upper right; also visible are parking areas and roads.
The Ahwahnee is a hotel within the valley. It's the structure in the middle of the photo. And note the rocks in the top left - these have come down from the cliffs above, and continue doing so. This photo's location is a little to the right of the one above.
The Ahwahnee is to the right of the brown grass in the lower left of this photo. The cliff behind is Royal Arches, with Sentinel Dome just showing in the upper right.
Looking about east into the end (or should that be beginning) of Yosemite Valley, with Half Dome clearly visible on the right, and part of Royal Arches on the left.
A convenient way of travelling around the lookout area for those lucky enough to work in such a great location.
On the return journey we had to stop for road works. In the northern hemisphere, moss grows on the northern side of tree trunks, as shown here in abundance.
From here it was back to Mariposa for dinner and another good night's sleep.
