Flying To San Jose

Mountains with cloud in the valleys I had a noon flight from Seattle to San Jose, and happened to have a window seat on the good side of the plane! This is a view of the Olympic Mountains, with fog/cloud creeping up the valleys from Hood Canal. Quite pretty.

Mountains with cloud in valleys, and a few peaks The tallest peak here is probably Mt. Olympus, although that's only a guess on my part. The colour balance of this image does not look right, but fiddling has not produced a better result.

Plaque on plane noting it as

When boarding, one of the cabin staff pointed out this sign on the plane. Alaska flies only Boeing 737s. Rather than delaying entry of other passengers, I waited to be last off the plane so that picture taking would not disrupt others. It helped that a back door on the plane was also open.

As I was taking this photo, the same cabin staff member asked had I seen the outside of the plane. Well, no, I hadn't. It was hard to see from the gate we boarded, and I wasn't looking when the plane taxiied in.

Alaska 737 on tarmac at San Jose, fish painted on side Ah, now I see the reason for the plaque. The plane is painted to resemble a salmon! Nice piece of advertising.

Friend Jeffrey was waiting at the luggage carousel, and we walked the few steps to the car park to head on home. Except for the 20 minute delay at the exit while the driver of the car in front tried to find some way to pay - no cash, and credit card didn't work.
