While Peter took care of Flynn's needs, Jake and I wandered over to the children's area, where Jake spotted the "U Drive" attraction.
The "U Drive" is the ride on the lower left - it's basically a couple of vehicles linked together and moving around a rubber track.
Jake in the back of the fire truck. All the children have a rope seat belt to keep them in while the ride is moving, which it does a rather slow speed.
The ride in action, with Jake about mid image.
The image shows Jake having fun! And steering too, although the steering wheels don't do anything. Every seat had one.
Jake still steering around the track, with Peter watching from the crowd behind (white cap, above Jake and to the right).
For the next ride, Jake was joined by Flynn as they scored a Jeep to ride in. Here the attendant is tightening Flynn's "seat belt", as both boys are fascinated.
All set to go - Flynn seems to be happy, and Jake has that concentrating look. It is, after all, a very important job to get ready to drive this ride.
Jake the distracted driver - he is feeling for the button on the back seat which toots the horn. I told him about the one on the fire truck, but I suspect there's also one for the front seat drivers, though Jake has probably not figured that out. At least Flynn is concentrating on driving.
From the ground to space - time for a ride on the Space Shuttle! Here our intrepid heroes are waiting for lift off.
The tension is starting to show.
Lift off! All's well with the world.
After a light lunch, and an ice cream, we were all ready for the journey home. So back to the ferry wharf to await the return journey. This was the outbound ferry headed to Balmain, not the one for us to catch. Although I suppose we could have taken the very long way back to Circular Quay, just across the harbour.
A view of the bridge, the Opera House and part of downtown Sydney. It was a very pleasant day.
One of the regular (as opposed to the catamaran) Many Ferries passing the Opera House
From here it was a short ferry ride to Circular Quay, where we had to wait a few minutes for a train to Padstow. By this time the boys, especially Flynn, were running on empty, and it was time for them to have a bit of a rest. A very enjoyable day, and one that we will probably do again fairly soon.
