On Saturday, March 10th, Peter and I took Jake and Flynn to Luna Park. They had not been there, and actually neither had I! Disneyland, but not Luna Park. The park web site has more information about current events and attractions.
The plan was that Peter would pick up the boys and I would meet them at Padstow station. From there to Circular Quay and then a ferry ride across the Harbour to Luna Park. And buying a combined train and ferry ticket gave us a discount on Luna Park tickets!
We arrived at Circular Quay with about 15 minutes to spare before the ferry left. So we wandered around looking at the entertainment, which included this Aboriginal group.

Digeridoo Player
The player on the right gave a very good explanation of how a digeridoo is played, and also noted that they are not called digeridoo in Aboriginal languages! You learn something new every day. Alas, I don't recall the other names he called the instrument. Playing is complex as it requires circular breathing, as well as input from the vocal chords.
By now it was time to head to the wharf to await the ferry. This view shows Luna Park's big face and entry towers about mid image.
Flynn and Jake at the northern end of the wharf, awaiting a ferry, with the Harbour Bridge and Luna Park behind them. And there is a Rivercat ferry on the right side - just leaving an adjacent wharf, by the looks of it. There is a perspex wall behind the boys!
It looks as though this Rivercat is about to run down Flynn!
This bear is advertising "Bandaged Bear Day" at The Children's Hospital, Westmead. This was taken from the ferry while waiting for it to leave the wharf. The building on the right, the AMP building, was, I believe the first modern style high rise building built in Sydney. However, the MLC building at North Sydney was built first, making the latter the first high rise in Sydney. And immediately behind the bear is the Cahill Expressway and Circular Quay train station.
The seagull on the wharf building stands out against the glass walled building behind.
We're off, having a "race" with this same model ferry to see who leaves Circular Quay first! We were sitting at the front of our ferry, so that the boys could see Luna Park as we approached.
The other ferry passing the Opera House.
The Prime Minister's Sydney residence - Kirribilli House, right on the point.
Flynn and Jake, with Luna Park's big face behind them. Oh, and the Harbour Bridge, one week before it's 75th birthday.
Some tourist boats "frolicking" on the harbour, just below the Harbour Bridge, with one of the many converted and restored wharves behind.
Ah, at last, approaching the ferry wharf and Luna Park's big face. Very art deco style, appropriate for a 1932 vintage structure.
