Canberra Weekend

Peter Fyfe's 50th birthday was a good excuse to escape from Sydney for a couple of days. I made reservations for 2 night at the Canberra Rex, conveniently located adjacent Fenner Hall.

I drove down Saturday afternoon, February 25th, and checked into the hotel. Made contact with Peter to obtain the details of this evening's event, then went for a bit of a walk around the area before heaading to the party at Fenner Hall - just across the street.

On Sunday I met Peter and family for lunch in central Canberra, but otherwise spent the day sightseeing. Mostly I went to the nearby mountains or hills with lookouts.

The plan was to travel home Monday via the south coast. However Monday morning turned out a little wet. This did not inspire me to take the coastal route, as the drizzle was coming from that direction. So it was back along the Federal Highway. By the time I reached Lake George (still no water) the sun was out, but then it disappeared again by the northern end of the lake.

It remained cloudy the rest of the way to Sydney. A quite uneventful trip, much to my linking. But overall a very pleasant weekend, and nice to catch up with the Fyfe clan again.
