Wednesday is (currently) the day for a family dinner. Mostly held at Illawong, but this week it was moved to Como Pleasure Grounds. According to the NSW Parliamentary record, quoting Sutherland Shire historian Daphne Salt, the European history begins when James Murphy "… built a boat shed and general store to cater for tourists to his Pleasure Grounds. He installed swings and razzle dazzles and swimming baths to attract visitors …
Murphy created a seaside resort at Como, and the generosity of Mother Nature and the trains did the rest. Day trippers flocked to Como. It was the place to see and be seen."

This would appear to be the 2006 edition of a razzle dazzle, or merry-go-round. It can be "self propelled" by standing on the upslope side and "walking" uphill. At least, that is my theory, which I have not seen tested.
