Outside was the container into which my moving possessions were to be loaded. It looked somewhat out of place in this nice residential street.
An empty container (take my word for it!) awaiting my prized possessions!
Really empty inside, and looking rather cavenous! But that would change.
Scott and Josh with pretty much the full load, discussing how to tie things down so they won't move around too much during the voyage. Although my understanding is that this effort is more involved with getting the stuff back to their depot (for weighing) where the final stabilisation takes place. Or not.
Final view of my possessions. Will I ever see them again? At the time of writing, I live in hope and anticipation :-)
At last, the loading is done, and the truck is off to the depot, contents to be processed as appropriate.
For the week before packing day, I was daily changing my mind
about taking the bike. Ultimately, it stayed.
The bike partially disassembled as I look for ways to remove
the contents of the gas tank. Had I taken the bike, there would
have been some modifications required - changing the headlight
for the other side of the road (the beam widens on the right hand side
in right hand drive countries) and I would want to change the
speedometer to a metric model. My experience with metric conversion
back in the 1970s convinced me that an imperial odometer is far
more inconvenient than an imperial speedometer, and given the
choice I would want to avoid that.
