Wednesday, September 28th, was going home day. And it seemed just a few days ago that I left! Being without bike, it was a case of using the metal silver tube route back home.
Jeff's front room, enjoying the morning sunshine while showing the autumn colours outside.
Max decides I'm safe enough for him to come into the same room and explore a bit more.
Even Samantha seems to think I'm safe, though she is far more cautious. And that look appears to be one of suspicion, and being ready to run for life at the slightest indication.
Max decides there's safety under this table. But then Max is also the more adventurous of the pair.
But now it's time to leave for the airport, so being packed (and with little to take back) Jeff dropped me off at San Jose Airport where I waited for the plane back to Seattle. I had a window seat, which was good, as I wanted to take some photos of the route I had just ridden down. Note that I used the polarizing filter for most of these shots; alas, there is an interaction between that filter and the windows in the aircraft. Hence the somewhat mottled effect in the images. I have tweaked the images to improve the contrast and colour rendition, but there's only so much that can be done...
San Jose Airport is at the southern end of San Francisco Bay, so fortunately we had a good view of the bay and city as the plane flew north. Although a bit hazy, this shows the peninsular, and downtown San Francisco, with part of the San Mateo Bridge in the lower left, and part of Hayward on the lower right. The plane is east of San Francisco, and so the large body of water is (obviously) San Francisco Bay.
The San Mateo Bridge, from Hayword (bottom) to San Mateo at the top, and looking across the Santa Cruz Mountains to Half Moon Bay and the Pacific Ocean.
A closer view of downtown San Francisco showing the Oakland Bridge (middle) and (although barely visible) the Golden Gate Bridge. Marin County and Sausalito is the peninsular on the right, with the Pacific Ocean to the top.
The area at the bottom is Oakland (right) and Alameda (left), showing Fisherman's Wharf in the middle, with the Golden Gate Bridge at the top, and the Oakland Bridge at the bottom.
A wider angle view of the above area, including the Berkeley Hills in the bottom right.
