On Tuesday, September 13th, Rob and I headed to the Skagit Valley for a photographic expedition. We headed towards Darrington, where lunch was "sort of" planned - the diner there is OK, and the nice one in Concrete is closed after a fire.
Our first stop was at the wildlife viewing area a little before Darrington. This is Whitehorse Mountain, which also includes (at least) one glacier. It's a spectacular sight in Spring when the skies clear but the snow is still there.
A closer view of the mountain and glacial areas.
Rob admiring his handiwork.
Looking over the Stillaguamish River (not visible behind the trees) to the other side of the valley.
A close up of the above peak, showing the folding of the layers from mountain building.
After a filling lunch at the Darrington diner, it was time to continue towards Concrete and Baker Lake.
Another view of Whitehorse Mountain, this time from the parking lot of the diner at Darrington.
