Although the name Bixby Bridge may not ring a bell, you most likely will recognise it, as it's been in several movies, and is widely photographed. The bridge was built in 1932 by the Works Progress Administration, while the coastal highway was built to modern standards. The WPA was part of the effort to end the Depression, and was also responsible for, amony many projects, the Grand Coulee Dam and associated irrigation projects.
