Monterey in the Morning

June 12th

The morning was mine to do as I pleased, and then Jeffrey was coming in the late morning and we would head down to Big Sur for lunch, then meander back along the coast, stopping at Point Lobos Park for a finale. And stopping anywhere in between for photos!

Montery Harbour

Young sailors being towed from Monterey marina for trials

Yesterday I watched these nippers training in the enclosed waters of the harbour (it was quite windy, and probably too much for these young sailors). Today was calmer, and so it was safe to venture into the "open" waters of Monterey Bay. Here they are towed out to the course.

Reflections at Monterey marina

The Monterey marina. The dark sky is fog rather than cloud.

Resting seagulls on beach behind Monterey Wharf

These birds decided the beach made a good place for a rest.

Pelicans and other birds on resataurant roof at Monterey Wharf

While these birds preferred a somewhat higher location - the roof of a restaurant on Fisherman's Wharf.
