Stokes Adobe building, now a restaurant

Built by James Stokes in the early 1840s. Scene of many dramatic incidents in the late Mexican and early American periods.

Larkin House

Larkin House, originally for US Consul to California

American Consulate 1844 - 46. Built in 1835 by Thomas Oliver Larkin, only U.S. Consul to California.

Colton Hall

Colton Hall, where California's Constitutional Convention was held

California's Constitution Hall. Completed in 1849.

Gordon House

Gordon House, built with Australian timber!

Built in the early 1850s of lumber brought from Australia. One of the early 'milled lumber' houses in California.

Former home of Josiah Merritt, first judge of Monterey County.
