After lunch, it was time to follow the historical Monterey walking tour. The notes for this section are taken from the signs posted by the Monterey History and Art Association. A typical sign is shown at right.
The house where Robert Louis Stevenson lived in the latter part of 1879. This house is currently closed to public tours while undergoing repairs.
The Royal Chapel of San Carlos de Borromeo, founded June 3, 1770. In continuous use since 1795. The only Presidio chapel remaining in California.
One of the best examples of Monterey Colonial architecture in California. Finished about 1850 by Jose Amesti who came from Spain in 1822.
