After the Imax movie, I had just reached my hotel room when the phone rang. It was Donna, saying they were outside waiting for me! It seems they just sneaked into the movie too. Timing was perfect.
So we went for a scenic tour, over some of the same route I had travelled that morning, but with a few stops I didn't find. This part of the journey seemed to have a "house" flavour. Just a little west of the hotel and ferry terminal is a collection of house boats, not unlike those on Lake Union in Seattle. So we had a look around, as well as at some of the other boats there.
Some of the house boats. Definitely not mass produced!
It actually looks something like a boat - a tug boat, perhaps.
Cleared for takeoff.
Some original thinking here - build a house boat by taking a mobile home (fairly old, judging by the shape) and putting it on a barge. That's Mark and Donna on the dock.
The sign on the door - clearly an owner with an attitude! (Photo by Mark Collier.)
Even has an ex-Canadian Navy ship for sale. Looks as though it was probably a mine hunter, as the hull was built with wood. (Photo by Mark.)
The paragliders "airport" in Victoria, BC. The person on the right attempted a take-off while we watched, but it failed, and the lines in the parachute became rather badly tangled. We didn't hang around long enough to find out whether the attempt was given up, or the lines straightened out. (Photo by Mark.)
