Wednesday morning and time to head home. The sky did not look too promising, and I had not ridden in my wetweather gear, as the forecast was for fine weather. Well, trusting the forecast around here is not a good idea - at least not until July 5th, when the sunny weather usually starts.
There were two other bikes on the ferry, as well as a tour bus or two and a bulldozer!
The Goldwing rider had an "interesting" trailer - in the shape of a coffin, even with RIP on the back. Seems to be tempting fate a bit to me :-( However, he's ridden a large number of miles, so I guess their luck is holding.
Looking west along the Olympic Peninsula. Doesn't look too bad, although this area is known for the great variation in weather in very short distances. Of course, this is the direction the weather comes from ...
Looking east, the weather is much more attractive. And that's the direction I'll be heading. Of course, it's also the direction the weather is moving.
Looking towards Port Angeles. Not at all encouraging.
However, I rode home without getting wet (and I did have rain gear, just in case!). There were a few raindrops at some poinrt - just enough to notice. The trip was otherwise uneventful, and with almost perfect timing - I joined onto the end of the traffic queue which had been waiting for the Hood Canal Bridge to clear, and also arrived at the Kingston Ferry Dock as a ferry pulled in! I reached home with plenty of time to wash, and prepare for the Monterey trip in the morning.
