Thursday Morning

Getting Started

I like to start the day with breakfast, and the motel suggested RA's (or was that AR's) across the river. I thought of walking, but decided to ride. However, the distance was less than I remembered, so it would not have been too far. However, there was quite a cool breeze blowing, and it would not have been very pleasant crossing the river.

Crown Point

The city guide suggested Crown Point as an excellent viewing point. So after breakfast, I headed up that way. There is a display board with a capsule history of the dam.

Grand Coulee Dam, and Coulee Dam City from Crown Point

The dam wall, in toto. There's really nothing in the image to give a sense of scale. But note the tiny little buildings in the town on the right, and the bridge across the river.

The Columbia flows on its way after the dam. All that water has been through the power station.
