The town of Suquamish is the former location of an native American settlement, and was the home area for Chief Sealth, the person after whom Seattle was (mis) named. This totem pole is located on the southern edge of town, overlooking Puget Sound.
We walked along the beach to Suquamish, then followed a trail and several streets back to our hosts. There are several pieces of trail, providing a walking route to houses south of town. The beach is completely covered at high tide, so a land route is required. This is probably the most attractive part of the trail.
Yet another view of the trail.
There are standard mailboxes, and then there are others. All Aboard!
The Gillingham's front yard, looking roughly ENE, over Agate Passage and Bainbridge Island towards the mainland.
The view from the front yard. This is looking north towards Suquamish, which is located behind the headland.
