UNSW Open Day IV

Area Views

View over buildings, then houses to airport and bay

The view from the top floor of the Science (Matthews) Building, looking south west towards Mascot Airport, with Botany Bay on the left.

View over houses, school towards sea

Looking about east south east from the Science Building. Part of Prince of Wales Hospital, and a local school is visible nearby. The Tasman Sea (Pacific Ocean) is in the distance.

Flinstone IV

Crowd gathering around plaza with fountain used for Project Flintstone

Later in the day, and the finale of Project Flintstone is nearing. This is the view from the third floor of the Electrical Engineering building.

Vehicle passing fountain on way to first parking slot

And they're off!

Billy cart style vehicle negotiating the chicane

Another team nearing the finish line.

A tricycle entry rounding the fountain towards the chicane

This is the team which lost a wheel earlier in the day. A quick fix and they are back in the final.

The tandem bicycle style team riding down the hill

Competition over, it's time to test the vehicles out of their design environment - down hill! That's the Mechanical Engineering building in the background.

Remaining Photos

Qantas Boeing 747 flying past

A Qantas Boeing 747-200 heading from Mascot, with the lift housing of Mechanical Engineering in the foreground.

Ship on harbour, with smoke coming from stack

A sunny afternoon on Sydney Harbour, looking towards The Heads, from what I would guess is underneath the Harbor Bridge. Kirribilli House is among the greenery to the left of the ship, and Fort Denison (aka "Pinchgut") a little to right. Note that this photo is unrelated to the others - just the old problem with film - finishing off the roll before sending away for processing!
