The course for Project Flintstone is being prepared. Note the ramp in the lower left corner. There aren't many students, or vehicles, around, so presumably they are preparing for the big event.
The barrels are in place, forming a sort of chicane. And possibly a briefing for the contestants next to the fountain.
And they're off. The judges and scrutineers on the left are paying close attention, as is the gentleman in the suit near the slot with the entrant. The object is to "drive" into the slot and then reverse out.
Another contestant - this time a team with 2 women - is entering the slot. This seems to be a balancing sort of vehicle, with only ever 3 of the 4 wheels on the ground at the same time.
This more traditional 4 wheeled vehicle is climbing the ramp - the little engine that could!
This vehicle is another 4 wheeled vehicle, nearing the end of the chicane. The organiser of the competition is on the stage at the right hand side.
A more interesting vehicle than the billy cart style. It looks as though it is straining to stay in one piece, but I think that's just the angle of the photo.
From memory this was a very fast entry. But also minimal, without complications to slow them down. And bonus points for the period costume - rags all round!
In an earlier photo, these two were using the upper pulley for propulsion, but now it's down to wheel. I suspect the pulley system didn't work very well.
Part of the crowd watching one of the contestants on the other side of the fountain.
