South Coast

Two little girls at front of land with a few trees; lake in background

This slide's caption says that Michelle and Kelly at Peter and Yvonne's land at Lake Macquarie. I don't actually remember that. But, there you are.

Ships sitting off the coast beyond a sandy beach

Ships waiting off shore at Port Kembla, just south of Sydney. I recall something about strikes being involved with delays at wharves and ports. There are 8 ships here!

Looking over sand, across smaller city to distant hills

From the same location as above, on the northern side of Port Kembla, looking over Wollongong towards Mt. Keira. This is the area which now (2011) is likely the coal loader storage area.

Nearby house, wide open ocean and distant beach and hills

This is probably from Hill 60 Park which is south of Port Kembla, and is looking south towards Shellharbour and Kiama.

View over homes, very tall chimney, iron works and towards mountains, including Mt. Keira

Looking inland from Hill 60 Park. This is definitely the location, as that chimney is quite a landmark! The building at the bottom is a school; the steel works are to the right, and Mt. Keira is clearly visible.

Rural land with hills, and pasture and forest

Somewhere inland from the southern end of Wollongong.

High view down coastline with breaking surf and dark clouds

The view from Burning Palms, which is just outside the southern entrance to Royal National Park. Not a great day to enjoy the sunshine!

High view along coastline, with breaking waves and dark clouds

Just a little further down the road to obtain the view looking north towards Royal National Park and Sydney (not at all visible from here, even on a crystal clear day). The above photo was taken where the cars are parked in the centre left.

High view down to small town behind beach, with breaking surf

The view from Bald Hill down to the town of Stanwell Park. This would probably have been a good day for the hang gliders who use this area as a launching/landing zone. But I don't remember if they were very popular at this time.
