Locomotive 3801 has been undergoing restoration, or perhaps more correctly re-built, for about 10 years, with a number of hiccups along the way.
But now it is complete in its shiny beauty, ready for mainline service when COVID-19 restrictions allow it.The NSW Rail Museum invited members to book a tour to see the splendidly finished loco on the day before the public could enter the museum. We had the bonus of having a cab tour, and I even shoveled coal into the firebox! A bucket list item I never knew was on the list!
