Back To Sydney

After breakfast in Narooma it was time to pack up, pay the bill, and .... take some photos!

View up coast from Narooma

Well, actually just one. This is from the front lawn of the Whale Motel, Narooma, looking north up the coast - headlands as far as the eye can see. And beautiful sandy beaches. Yesterday and today were more like summer days, then late Autumn. Temperatures were in the high 20s, and in fact I didn't have any clothing suitable for such weather - that sort of temperature is just not expected in early May.

Bendalong

Cabin at Bendalong Park

Bendalong is near the southern end of Jervis Bay; it's mostly a holiday town, although with some permanent residents. Yvonne and Peter have had a caravan there for many years, and it has become the de-facto family holiday destination. But the caravan had reached the end of its days, so a new cabin was purchased late last year, and installed in February 2007. And this is it.

This also includes a few additional items, not part of the original purchase. Cameron re-attached the verandah, raising it in the process. And also installed the green wooden slats around the base, to keep critters out of the underneath.

The Rest Of The Journey

From here I decided to take a slightly different way home, and visit areas I have not seen for many a year. The plan was to head towards Nowra (well, not much choice there!) and then through Kangaroo Valley, up to the Cambewarra Lookout (where mum's sister-in-law's sister ran the tea shop for many a year), to Fitzroy Falls then home through Bowral. This seemed like a nice change from the rather uninteresting roads through Kiama to Wollongong.

It was a great plan, but... The Cambewarra Lookout was closed for renovations, and there was roadworks just past there which blocked traffic intermittently! And I missed seeing the turnoff to Fitzroy Falls! So all in all, this was not a great plan.

Once on the Hume Highway, the journey was easy and quite speedy, and that takes me within a few blocks of home by freeway, so was an added bonus.

So after 6 nights away, catching up with friends, and enjoying some mountain scenery, I was back home. Much refreshed too.
