There was a fee to enter the tower, but as it appeared to be one of the higher structures in "downtown" Copenhagen, it seemed like a good idea. And if Tycho Brahe is standing guard, well it must be important!
Wow! It's a ramp, not stairs! The lenght of the ramp is 200m (600 feet or so). The story goes that Peter the Great of Russia rode a horse up the ramp while his wife rode in a carriage! There are a few stairs up to the roof, though.
A porthole on the way up shows the associated Trinity Church. But there's a glass or plastic window to keep the noise from the tower out during services, I presume.
There's also an exhibition space a bit further up, with the obligatory gift shop. I managed to resist the temptations :-)
A chart of the night sky showing the various constellations.
One of these days I'll identify the some of the structures. I also photographed the 8 diagrams which identified the items visible. This is a 360 degree view!
The "new" bridge joining Copenhagen to Sweden. Note that Copenhagen is on an island, and this is the only way off the island that does not involve a boat or plane journey! I guess that's why they are so excited about it.
The Marmokirken dome, and the power generating windmills.
The nearby tower is from Rosenborg Castle.
