Monday morning was our final day together in Montreal. And so it seemed a few farewell photos were in order. Our coach was scheduled to depart for the aiport about 11:30AM, so we had plenty of time to pack before heading down to the foyer. Though from memory we had to pack relatively early so that the hotel staff could bring our bags down.
A view looking slightly north of east from our hotel, and showing parts of Montreal and the 1976 Olympic Stadium. I suspect the hazy sky is typical for this time of year, when it's hot and humid. Even at this time of day.
A better view of the stadium, roof still (more or less permanently) closed. I have touched up this photo somewhat to enhance the quality of the image.
And Place des Arts, our second home for the last week. But now empty, with workers coming in to dismantle the 26th Edition of the Montreal International Jazz Festival.
And so the tour ended "not with a bang, but a whimper", which was just fine with me. Greg and June were headed east by train (for what sounded like a very pleasant journey). I was headed east too, but much further - Italy, to meet some family members in Rome, and then to explore northern Italy alone as we also went our own ways. The remainder of the group were headed back to the USA, mostly Seattle. As our planes were leaving at about the same time, I was able to ride to the airport with the rest of the US bound contingent.
Departing always brings a certain sadness, as we leave our old and new friends behind. And so it was here too. Overall a terrific tour, and I'd like to thank Barbara and Peter for the excellent organisation, and keeping us on schedule, and together. Can we go again?
