The Chateau Frontenac

By now it was time to head back to the hotel. Both because our "welcome dinner" was this evening, and I was getting hot!

View of St. Lawrence River (and ferries crossing it) from my room at Chateau Frontenac

Looking from my hotel room across the Saint Lawrence River. A nice afternoon to be sailing, or to take the ferry (passengers and cars) across the river. The obelisk on the right honours both Montcalm and Wolfe. More about that later.

The Saint Lawrence, with the assistance of canals and locks, leads into the Great Lakes, and thus sees large vessels, such as this heading out to the Atlantic Ocean (empty, by the looks of it).

Dinner

After cleaning up from the day's walking, we adjourned to the hotel's restaurant by Dufferin Terrace for a delightful "Welcome to Quebec" dinner. A pleasant evening of wining and dining was an excellent finish to our first full day in Quebec City, a place which feels more European than any other place I have been in North America.
