KPLU's Jazzy French Connection
From July 2nd to 11th, KPLU's Travel Club toured the Canadian
Province of Quebec, spending a couple of days in Quebec City
before travelling to Montreal to attend the Montreal Jazz Festival.
Chronological Diary
-
Travelling to Quebec City
-
July 3rd
was a walking day - an old town tour, then self guided walk.
-
July 4th,
Independence Day in the USA, was the day to tour Ile d'Orleans,
north east of Quebec City.
-
July 5th
was time to pack and head to Montreal.
-
Old Montreal
started the day's activities, ending with the Sonny Rollins concert.
-
Culinary Montreal
was the moring part of the tour for July 7th, ending with Al Jarreau and Roberta Flack
in concert at Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier.
-
Richelieu Valley
was this morning's destination, ending with Pat Metheny in concert as
a Gary Burton Quartet reunion.
-
Garden tours
was the theme for July 9th. Alas, it rained; not a great combination.
And the day concluded with a fireworks display.
-
Final (free) day
so on July 10th I ventured to the waterfront, before some afternoon jazz
and the farewell dinner and concert.
-
Farewell to Montreal
with a late morning departure to the airport.
On Monday, we said our farewells. Most folks were heading home, but I was
off to
Italy.
Again.
