The front of the Broken Hill University College as it then was - a part of the University of New South Wales (Wollongong and possibly Newcastle colleges were also part at that time).
This is also the University College. Presumably something like the employee parking lot. At least there was some shade for the early arrivers.
This area is part of the Zinc Corporation (one of the mine operators) located opposite the University College (front). Quite a green oasis by comparison with the country nearby.
This is the (then rather new) Broken Hill Civic Centre - a concert hall, among other facilities.
This is probably Sturt Park, across the street from the Civic Centre.
Looking west along Argent Street, the main street of Broken Hill.
Looking east along Argent Street, Broken Hill. The building with the brick tower and clock is the Post Office; the building with the scaffolding may be the Police Station. The tower on the left likely belongs to what today is Telstra (but the Postmaster General's Department in 1975) and the tower is likely for microwave connections.
Looking east from the intersection at the Post Office (see above). Mostly an older part of town in terms of structures.
My Datsun on the road to Tibooburra (320 km away) just outside Broken Hill. I did not travel any further along the road - schedule did not allow, among a number of other reasons. Sign.
The, or at least a, Broken Hill Race Course. From the road it was not possible to determine the state of the course. The sign says
The view of Broken Hill from the western side of town.
