After touring the convent we headed into the old city, destined to visit the Church of St. Teresa for Mass. This church is built on the site of the home where St. Teresa was born and raised.

After Mass, we visited the adjacent convent, which includes one of St. Teresa's fingers and other objects relating to her life.
The city gate outside the church where we celebrated Mass. While designed to withstand a siege, they are also almost as effective for keeping vehicles out (due to their width).
The Cathedral of Avila is set into the city walls, and has a matching military air. This is the oldest Gothic church in Spain.
