Day 12 - To Lourdes

The plan was to travel about 100km from Torreciudad for lunch. But sanity prevailed, and so we had a delightful lunch at a restaurant (the 'Three Roads'?) in El Grado.

Ah, getting the washing dry during a delay at Torreciudad Shrine

The change of plan meant we had a little extra time at Torreciudad, so there was more time to dry the washing, which was becoming something of a problem by this stage. Especially for those with youngsters! And I wasn't the only one taking a picture, although I was the only one to include the other photographers in my image!

The Pyrenees

The border between Spain and France runs along the Pyrenees Mountains, which is probably the reason the border is there - it is a natural barrier.

A 2910m peak on the road from El Grado to Lourdes (part of The Pyrenees)

Still in Spain, but this peak is 2910m in elevation - that's over 9,000 feet. And clearly shows the folding of layers as the earth's crust is pushed up forming these mountains.

Autumn scenery crossing the Pyrenees

The autumn colours are starting to show. Triggered by the first frosts, the show normally starts in the higher elevations and works down from there.

Appearance of snow on the peaks of the Pyrenees

There's snow in tham thar hills!
