The Dome

Main dome of St. Peter's Basilica

The dome is open to the public; after travelling to the roof of the Basilica, the tourist enters a balcony just below the row of windows, and from there climbs up between the inner and outer dome. The view is quite spectacular, but alas we had no time allowed for that during our stay in Rome.
